if that`s how many you want just do what I do but only a couple hours a day. you`ll still need another hr. or two for put up. I just sold this years coyotes and misc fur for about 43 grand. took 40 days to catch it. down side is it took near 8 weeks to put it up. at least the put up was only 6-8 hrs a day, vs. 12-16 hrs a day for the catching. and in that time got all the gear cleaned up and tidy`d the shed etc.. in spite of the good catch both my gross and net were less than last year or even the year before that. hope it comes back next year. I believe it will. maybe not on coons but everything else should re-bound once the chinese get straightened around and the weather and russians get back to normal. I`m quite certain if I didn`t have to run the farm I could do 2,000 coyotes a season starting early and going thru the winter till they started breaking. I make good money farming so have to let trapping still be a part time venture.

I did Xmas trees for a short time.Until the deer got to them. They do not touch the spruces but then the spruces start losing needles as soon as you cut them. Was going to have just a U cut with tractor/wagon ride out to the field and wanted to have a couple of reindeer in the barn. But the whitetail deer got the best of my crop.

DEPENDS, RARELY AS LITTLE AS 100-125 MILES/DAY. MOSTLY 150-200 MILES. FEW DAYS 250 WHEN YANKING ONE LINE THEN MOVING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. IF i CAN PULL ONE END AND EXTEND THE FURTHER END IT`S NOT SO BAD, BUT EVENTUALLY A GUY HAS TO JUST PULL UP AND MOVE 50-100 MILES AWAY AND START ALL OVER AND GET NEW HOUSING AND EVERYTHING. i TRY TO MINIMIZE MILES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, JUST LIKE EVERYONE. THE MILAGE IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE PART OF COST TO TRAP, ABOUT 80%. i DON`T MEAN THE COST OF GAS. THE COST OF GAS IS ABOUT 30 CENTS OF THE 70 CENTS A MILE IT COSTS TO DRIVE. IT AVERAGES ABOUT 170 MILES A DAY. MOSTLY ROAD DRIVING FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION. SPRING DENNING IT`S THE REVERSE, MOSTLY OVERLAND DRIVING SEARCHING FOR DENS. YES YOU`D HAVE TO GET TO WHERE i AM BY DRIVING OR PLANE

never knew a trapper me included didn`t look out the window if passing a draw or 2 track or bridge. always looking. it`s a miracle we don`t all wreck our trucks.I have twice drove into a big gully watching a litter of pups while denning. see how close I can get before they dive in and not watching the ground.once was driving a draw rim and watching the opposite side for dens. truck got about 50 degrees sidways ecause I didn`t see I was driving off a near cliff. figured if I turned uphill it would roll for sure, so turned down hill and drove to the bottom, hoping a way back out further down the draw. few days later the rancher is out on horseback looking for strays and sees my tire tracks going down that hill . he sees me and says man you are rough on that truck. I says yeppers, have to be to find dens. once hit an eroded sheep trail crossways so hard it high centered the truck and shattered the rear window. sure enough it dropped cold the next day and like to froze to death driving to gilette for a new rear window. and try hanyman jacking a truck with nothing but wadded up sagebrush to put under the frame. some years memorys is all we get. I`m glad I have them.

I would like that!I'm gettin to where I got a lil more time to do things now, thanks for the invite!yes,I was born without arms.I hav become addicted to trapping(something about it).I'm a member of the Ms.Furtaker chapter-great group of trappers! They answer any question I ask an hav been so helpfull!they told me about ur dvds(awsome info)but what I like most about ur trapping is u keep it so simple or u make it seem that way, lol!it has help me wade through all bs I read on the net. I now trap with some of that same simplicity,I wouldn't say I whack em an stack em but my catch rate sure is better! Thanks!

IT IS SIMPLE. i JUST SHAKE MY HEAD AT THE THREADS ON DOBBINS. ONLY REASON i CAN SEE ANYONE WOULD WANT TO LET ON THERE ARE THINGS LIKE WISE ANIMALS OR ALL THE MINUTIA POSTED THERE ON SETS AND MEASURING INCHES AND SUCH IS THEY AREN`T GOOD AT TRAPPING AND LOOKING FOR SOME EXCUSE TO EXPLAIN AWAY THE FACT THEY JUST AREN`T GOOD AT IT AND REALLY LIKE TALKING ABOUT IT MORE THAN ACTUALLY GETTING BETTER. LIKE THE "FOX TRAPPING COYOTES" THREAD. THEY TALK ABOUT SETS, LOL, THEY HAVN`T A CLUE THE DIFFERENCE, NOT A ONE OF THEM. THEY TALK ABOUT TREES BUT DON`T SEE THE FOREST.

Bob, I started that thread for entertainment (or maybe you mean the other one) thought it'd bring out some real pros with some quotes and all. Did get sulldog to divulge his secrets and I learned it's all trap placement and pan tension. I wanted more laughs thoughs tho.
dcm, there have been some trappers there in the past, most of the better info is in the archives.

TJM, THAT`S EXACTLY WHAT i MEAN. THEY STILL FOX TRAP THEM BUT WITH BIGGER TRAPS AND MORE TENSION AND SET BACK FURTHER. THAT`S THE TREES, NOT A FOREST. ANYONE HAS EVER BEEN WITH ME SEES REAL FAST HOW EASY IT IS AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING THEY TALK ABOUT. i`M TALKING HAVE TO QUIT SETTING AS YOU CAN`T HANDLE MORE THAN 20 COYOTES A DAY OUT OF 40-60 SETS KIND OF FOREST. YOU CAN`T SEE IT IN A DEMO OF HOW TO SAW DOWN A TREE. OR IN SOMEONES BACKYARD IN THE SUMMER. OR SOMEONE SHOWING GOOFY STUFF TO " CATCH THE SMART ONES THE FUR TRAPPERS LEAVE" THAT`S A LAUGHER TOO. THERE AREN`T ANY LEFT UNLESS THEY MOVE IN AFTER i LEAVE, AND THOSE ARE AS DUMB AS THE FIRST ONES. THEY JUST AREN`T THERE WHEN i`M THERE. i`M NO GENIOUS,AND NO BETTER "SETTER" THAN ANYONE. SO THE SET ISN`T IT. i`M NOT BRAGGING, i`M JUST SAYING. IT`S JUST NOT THAT HARD, OR HARD AT ALL. UNLESS YOU FOX TRAP THEM. ALL THE THREADS HERE IS THIS FARM WHERE SHOULD i SET ON IT. LOL!
