Anyone have any luck with RED fox and cage traps. Most I have caught were small ones. What bait is recommended. The traps I made are 12x18x36, with the dropdown door.
Also have anyone targeted coyotes with cage traps with any success. Really like to hear everyones thoughts and tips on these two.

Can't help you trop, I never tried cage trapping, bought one last year to play with on cats but never got a chance to try it before the snow buried us here.

Red Fox are shy when it comes to cage traps. I use ground up field mice placed under the trap at the back of the cage. They don't seem to like bait attached up high in the back of cages. As for coyotes---they don't go in cages unless thier real young or starving.

i've caught several fox using bbq scraps from local restraunt and covering floor of trap with leaves or straw. a shot of curosity lure or urine doesn't hurt. i use a large dog size trap.never had a coyote go in one though.

imo, "several" = damn few. I use a repeating box trap for denning, and have caught thousands of little red pups still nursing. adults....ZERO. everyone with cat cage traps shows a picture of 2 or 3 reds and even a dumb coyote they`ve caught on a bazuillion cage trap nights, but for practical use, you just as well say cage traps are worthless or near so for adult red fox and coyotes. grey and kit fox are dumber than a box of rocks and you can catch quite a few of them. or maybe special cases like tame city/golf course type red fox. anything past that, someone is wheezing you.
