I tried them like evereyone else, at the set, away from the set, high, low, you name it. like jorge, I never caught a cat in them. nor did the guy with me, steve craig, hardly two neophyte cat trappers. we had at least 20 units we ran a week in tip top cat country. 1/2 thr ones grit makes, 1/2 a bird chirper one out of pa. in fact I invented and manufactured similar squeekers back in the late 70s fur boom ,and fur markets crashed just as we geared up. I still have those units too, and they will definitly work to some degree on canines, what we used them for back then. but they were only of value if a person was inadequate in picking set locations, reading sign , i.e. hands on field experience. and even then would only do so much. last year in ks I was top cat tagger in the state and all in january after the crowd did all they could to the cats already. no squeekers, no partners, no anything except trap. so for sure, you can be the top dog anywhere without them. maybe with them, but they were not helpful to me. my guess is if you can`t catch the cats you want without them, then with them won`t change anything. everyone seems always wants the short cut or the secret set or lure. well, there isn`t anything like that. doesn`t exist. like in john mellencamps song, there isn`t any girl like that.

I bought 2 from Grit last season and caught cats on them. I used them in areas where there was no location to narrow them down like big 20-40 acre timbers where I thought cats were. Bought a few more for this season.

maybe you`d caught those cats without them. in big no location timber, if you look, there is location, there is always location. maybe a cluster of pack rat nests, maybe the main deer trail, maybe a real easy draw, maybe a barely discernable saddle, or a big uprooted tree. it`s there. what squeekers I have left are buried away somewhere, the ones I invented back in the 70s, that IMO all todays are copied after. I`ll do like jorge, sell them cheap. ytou know a skunky call lure is a lot cheaper. I think squeekers have trapped more trappers than cats.

I have two of these units that is being discussed. I haven't used them yet as others will hear them where I trap and I could not only loose the unt, but possibly the catch along with the traps. I have used a round camo ball type squeaker in years past that just chirped like a bird. Caught lots of cats and fox with them, and I placed them up high, and usually set a trap with a good bait no more that 50 feet from the tree the ball was hanging in. I was planning on trying these squeakers basically the same way, except to back off to 100 feet or so. I figured three bait sets and a few blind trail sets along with some snares would work great with these squeakers.

I`ll sell you 10 of the ones I made way back in the 70`s for $125 total, postpaid. maybe you`ll have luck with them . and for sure if not you will learn no sense using them a whole lot cheaper than 25 bucks each or whatever they sell for now. I have about 150 left.

Thanks Bob, that pretty well breaks it down to where I can understand it. Think I would be better off spending my money on traps. Thanks

Bob, maybe if you sold me one to play with, I might help you out on some more. I have a couple of new cameras I would like to put out and see what happens. Down here in LA I don't really even start trapping til after Jan. 1, so I got plenty of time to try one. Let me know what you think?
