Me thinks me see my problem after reading through other posts. Lynxie , Still working on the location deal as well as sets , maybe someday I will get it just right , but until then its a work in progress. 1.75 -2.25 cats per check on 24 hour runs out of state , thought I was doing pretty good until I seen 10-12 cat days from others. have done 3 too many times to count and 5 , 4 times now, with 1 day of 6. Would like to see some other more experienced squeaker users thoughts on placement in relation to set, would make for good reading. Probably happen about as fast as getting Phil to show me his top secret high ground location!

I have to agree with Grit AND Joels advice... I've used squeekers or similar items for DECADES.... often times with no success in the beginning... THEN I starting thinking...and working out the bugs in "MY thought train"... NOT a bait...but more like a CALL LURE!!!! Put the BAIT at the set.... the call lure "near by" to BRING EM to the set!!! ONCE I got over that hump(that was a BIG one)... things started to work for me...

KEEP in mind...the "big #'s" are NOT necessarilly indicative of a BIG overall catch.... "luck of the draw" many times.... I've done 17 on 72hrs...50 in 30 days..and 81 in 60 days... the LONG term kinda draws the "average" down a bit... I'd LOVE to average 1.75-2.25 cats per day.. ANY TIME... ANY WHERE!!!! (THAT is what matters... ;D)

How do you catch two and one quarter anything. What do you smoke out on the line?

One must remember that the unit will only work if the animals are there to hear it. One has to have animals around first some where.
It's not any garauntee to harvesting fur, it will make the critters come in though if they are in the area.
A great thing about a squeaker is it works, during the wind, no wind, during the heat or no heat, during wet weather or not, it works during the night or during the day, snow or ice, it's constantly working for you.
When your scents go cold or the wind won't move them the squeaker units will move those animals in anyway. If your worried about the wind direction that squeaker don't care about wind, all it does is make it's noise enough so that any predator animal coming within ear shot is going to come investigate.
Why not use the animals ears as well as it's eyes and nose??

Stumbled into a peyote patch...LOL What you said about using as a call lure is exactly what I picked up from the rest of this thread. I only get to run for 7 days to 2 weeks at a time , and the average is a long term(well at least 5-6 years worth) number of cats caught vs days trapping deal with me. when setting a cat line the magic # for me is 2 cats a day average , cause i know I only have a short amount of time so I strive for that. Grit , I may just place another 20 piece order before season but due to other things on my plate right now will hold off til end of August . Are the newer units better at having the batteries hold up now? If I remember right in jan/feb was having to replace em about evry 4 -5 days.

Battery life is always dependant on cold temps, if you use the 6 volt batterys your life of use should be around 2 to 3 weeks to 32 degress, if you insulate the battery with one of them neoprene rubber can holders it helps considerably with life. As long as you can keep the cold off the battery the big 6's work real well, even when they get cold after the sun warms them up they take of again.
The AA's are only so good with the cold, 8 to 11 days most times, agian if you insulate against the cold on the unit it helps, one reason why I use a camo neoprene cover on them now instead of just the camo tape. Looks better and it also helps with the cold on the unit, double that and your pretty well going to get your 11 days at 32 degrees.
If one wanted to spend money on a solar panel with rechargeables one would never buy battery's agian, this just depends on your theft quota though.
Don't want to rush your order, however I am building now for inventory and still cannot keep up with orders, so best you get such a large order in on the books way before the season starts. I know for a fact that a large order like that will get backordered, might now LOL.
I also understand money priorities, I just want people to know there is no production company doing these, just me folks LOL
